May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord (Psalm 19:14).
That’s usually enough to make a congregation get comfortable if not attentive. The University Church of St Mary the Virgin in Oxford pre-dates the university, Anglo-Saxon, and is the Oxford parish church. This is because the bishop’s seat is Christ Church Cathedral that uniquely doubles up as the chapel for Christ Church college. But I digress, like preachers at the University Church where the preamble for a sermon lasts a full five minutes.
In the summer Rory Stewart gave a sermon with pitch perfect delivery and content that made me reflect. I share it with you this Sunday morning.
Thank you. This timely sermon rings many empowering bells and resonates well.
Wishing you & all a hope filled Sunday.
A good man now lost from our political world.
