There are now two cranes on the Talgarth Road site.
There has been an unexpected benefit as they have already been used by the peregrine falcons as a lofty perch on which to mate. They needn’t have hurried as they will be in situ until 2024. Here is what the cranes look like at night.
There is a floor length window in the top bedroom which Bertie uses to keep an eye on things. He spotted the lights before I did and bayed vigorously to warn R and I. As a reward, when Robert was out playing tennis, we shared a guilty lunch: foie gras on toasted rye bread. We both love foie gras – Bertie can smell it from miles away and drools all over the kitchen table and my keyboard. It was a good bit of bonding and we went to sleep on a sofa afterwards.
Tom (peregrine falcon) needed to take a break after so much vigorous activity and went across the river to the London Wetland Centre to bathe.
In twenty-four hours I was given free a bunch of wilting daffodils (Waitrose), a small bag of Brussels sprouts (Waitrose, again) and a scented candle (Floris). The candle may not have been so free as I paid more than I care to admit for this new ‘limited edition’ smell (Mulberry Fig).
The first all-electric Shell station has opened on the Fulham Road with small branches of Costa and Waitrose to while away the time while the batteries are boosted.
I’m still playing the original Wordle and also the six letter version.
There are elections in Hungary and Serbia on Sunday 3rd April. I‘d like to be an observer for either mission. Although at No. 56 we live in social Siberia, I cannot take ten days out at such short notice.
It sounds like a missed opportunity not being able to observe the elections in Hungary or Serbia can’t you leave your social Siberia? Would be interesting for the Bellew Blog.
