I am getting used to the horrid tower outside the bathroom window. That doesn’t mean I like it. The few scrawny, unhappy trees perched on the upper three terraces are pathetic. You can’t even see them in my picture.
Down by the river, immediately to the east of Fulham Reach, Waterfront is finished.

Waterfront is part of a larger campus being redeveloped by ARC, to support West London’s science and innovation cluster. Makes a change from flats, the landscaping is good and the terracotta cladding nicely matches that of Richard Rogers’ original office on the right. It fits in snugly which is as much as one can ask.

I reckon this is Game Over for Hammersmith Bridge. It has been strengthened (not enough to take vehicles) and resurfaced. There are clearly delineated lanes for cyclists and pedestrians. I think it’s a good, economic, practical compromise that preserves this impressive structure.

In Frank Banfield Park the Commumity Garden has turned out better than I expected. It replaces the derelict playground The pond will look better when there’s some rain. And at home the wisteria and the geraniums are flourishing – both around eight years old.

The lavender succumbed to drought last year. I didn’t water because I thought they like the arid hot Med climate but they have deeper roots there. I have replanted with rosemary and hope it can be clipped into a modest hedge.

Most gratifyingly the crab apple (right) that looked dead has started sprouting leaves and looks to have a few more years. And that’s all the parish notices.
What a delightful post to receive this April Morning!
Thank you from Ireland..Co.Cork ☘️
Great parish news, Christopher, thank-you. And very good to see the sprouting tree by your house – galvanised into life by a drastic prune it would seem.
