If you are thinking of selling a property in Fulham the shops, restaurants and good transport links are emphasised. And another advantage of the area:
“NEARBY SCHOOLS
Bayonne Nursery School – 0.92 miles
Holy Cross RC School – 0.07 miles
Lady Margaret School – 0.05 miles”
Estate agents don’t get it. We are an ageing population and what buyers with about two million quid to spend want are not schools but hospitals. If I was selling my house I’d boast that it’s close to Imperial College NHS Trust hospitals:
- Charing Cross Hospital.
- Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital.
- Hammersmith Hospital.
- St Mary’s Hospital.
- Western Eye Hospital – OK that’s a bit of an outlier.
Imperial College Healthcare seems to be pretty well run and over the years has made efficiencies; for example reducing replication of expensive kit and using it for longer hours. Not so long ago, as usual after a fall, I had an MRI scan at midnight. If I may have a little rant. Any improved efficiency is regarded locally as virtually closing down the hospital. Furthermore the Imperial College hospitals have world class art and sculpture – My Local Art Gallery.

In the seven and a half years I have written on and off about investing I have, I hope, advocated having a good chunk of safe investments like McInroy & Wood’s Balanced Fund and Personal Assets, even Premium Bonds. However, I have withheld one element of my own income – namely that 40% is derived from index linked pensions. If that was not the case and I was half my actual age and had some earned income, I would aim to have 40% of my assets in safe funds loaded up with bonds and gold, 40% in equities and 20% maximum in the likes of RIT and AVI.
