Bertie was anaesthetised yesterday. He had a CT scan and many tests.
Taking tests is not entirely risk-free as they can cause internal bleeding but luckily not for him. The results will be back this afternoon. The scan revealed a cyst on his kidney that is being tested to make sure it is not malignant. His face is swollen, his joints inflamed and he has a lot of lesions but he did manage to eat something when he woke up. His vet hopes to be able to start treating him this afternoon. The vet, Robert and I are pretty sure what the trouble is but the vet wants to make sure before starting any treatment. If she is right he will recover but will need medication and check-ups for life.
Our cleaner, whose wife has not been well, takes an interest in Bertie. Yesterday morning he made up his bed for when he comes home. Sorry, it made me cry.
That would make me cry as well, when someone other than family loves them as much as you do.
All thoughts are with Bertie for his return home soon & his recovery. ??
I’m rooting for Bertie to come soon and get on with the treatment so he’s back to feeling in tip-top form. The poor dog must be missing you and Robert terribly – and I can guess how much you are missing him!
