Bertie, January 2022.

Number 56 is conveniently located between Charing Cross Hospital and Medivet on Barons Court Road.

The practice has only recently been taken over by Medivet and Bertie paid his first visit yesterday. It’s a small world; he was greeted by the same vet who arranged for him to go to the Royal Veterinary College thirteen months ago. He remembered Bertie and was pleased Bertie had been discharged after four days. I didn’t know vets share medical records.

Bertie, probably, has a tummy bug doing the rounds in canine circles. It has caused loss of appetite and made him sick a few times. He hates to be a nuisance so once was sick under my duvet and looked embarrassed when I found out. Anyway, he seems to be recovering but is taking advantage of his delicate health and the extra attention he receives by insisting on a diet of chicken breast. Like me, Bertie has put on weight, 21 kg, all muscle; I envy his waistline.

It is pleasing cranes are breeding on the Norfolk Broads again. Seeing them in Ukraine was one of the highlights of my election safari in 2019. A different sort of crane will be installed on Talgarth Road soon. Pile-drivers have prepared the ground for them.

  1. Sorry to see Bertie looking unhappy with a tummy bug and hope that with all the care and special diet he will recover soon.
