On Friday morning I left home at 7.15, exactly the time I used to leave to trudge into my office. I had a much more enticing destination: the Ancient World Breakfast Club.
The AWBC meets at 7.30 am on Friday mornings in term time at Godolphin & Latymer, a day school for girls in Hammersmith. Our speaker came from Colombia University in New York and diverted us with her take on early Christian burials; not a cheerful topic. There were more than fifty people present. I’m unsure if they are committed classicists (probably) or if a £4 brekker is the best meal deal in west London.
Then I dashed off to the Royal Hospital for Masterpiece 2018, a swanky art fair. I do mean swanky, Scott’s, Le Caprice and The Ivy all had outposts to cater to hungry and thirsty visitors. The exhibitors displayed everything from the Ancient World to the Modern World.

Then, a rather good lunch at Le Colombier and a weekend in Cambridgeshire which is why there have been some gaps in my posts.
