There has been a paucity of posts recently. To make amends, a plentitude of pooches.
Here are Bella, Benjy, Berkeley and Bertie (in alphabetical order). Max wouldn’t pose – if you can call it posing. It wouldn’t do in the Brigade of Guards but beagles are Special Forces. All the black Labrador bitches at Barmeath had names beginning with B. Is it a strong consonant to call a canine? I have a childhood memory of a friend of my grandparents bringing an unruly spaniel to Barmeath to flight pigeons. She had a strong voice and her desperate, reiterated cries, “Bundle” could be heard beyond the Boyne. PG Wodehouse had her in mind when he invented Aunts Agatha and Dahlia.
You will recall Bertie (Wooster) telling an aunt he couldn’t be shot at dawn as he didn’t get up so early – like Burlington Bertie.
Gorgeous! A very handsome quartet.
I once own a dog named Belle. She looked like some sort of hound– black body, tan face and feet– but Belle did not not bay, she barked.
