The Loriners

The purpose of writing here is to enlighten, entertain and, perhaps, infuriate. What I don’t do is to share my irrational worries. For eight months I have been mighty worried.

Booth

No doubt you make a Pavlovian association between Booth and gin. Well the link has been broken since production ceased in 2017.

The Golden Bottle

Mrs Hudson came in without knocking while I was having forty winks. I awoke to hear Holmes expostulating “Dear Mrs H, please desist from wipin’ your hands on your apron – so common”. I knew that her intrusion must be warranted.

More Jottings

Fulham Palace Road is not Bond Street so it was an unexpected pleasure to bump into Kate Cambridge yesterday morning. She was driving with a male passenger (bodyguard, I suppose) accompanied by the Special Escort Group, deploying their whistles. We haven’t had such excitement since the Queen Mother’s funeral cortège came along the Talgarth Road.

ACE Opera but not in Fulham

Arts Council England (ACE) doled out the dosh on Tuesday. There’s plenty of it – about £400 million each year. Poor folk, who should know better, chip in £71 million by fecklessly buying lottery tickets.
