The local council, Hammersmith and Fulham, have one department with which I cannot find fault; tree maintenance. They regularly prune the crab apple tree on the pavement outside our house and plant new trees when necessary. Our streetscape would be impoverished without their diligence and care.
Do not confuse these people with the dastardly developer who wanted to chop down a willow tree on the Thames Path at Fulham Reach. Their knavish tricks were frustrated and the willow has not let us down; it has survived high winds and stormy weather.
While we are on local news, the posh cafe (The Roasting Party) hasn’t opened by the tube station. Apparently there were planning issues. The redevelopment of West London College has gone quiet. My guess is that no developer is interested in building flats to sell in a saturated market. The Riverside Studios, originally scheduled to open in September 2018, is closed with no opening date. A part of the building is being fitted out as a restaurant and will open in October this year. It must annoy the company that the Studios are not open to provide a clientele. The proposal to build a 26 storey hotel has been watered down – it’s now supposed to be 22 stories and the planning application is undecided.
Thank you for asking, Bertie is on the mend. There’s still some cork in his poo and he has rather an endearing limp, that makes him look like a retired soldier with a gammy leg, but he holds his head high and his tail is wagging again. He managed two hours in Richmond Park yesterday. Every dog has its day and today may be Bertie’s. I will explain tomorrow.
