Gender Fluidity

I am not gender fluid. I didn’t even play women in school plays. In Lyon I’m surrounded by gender fluidity.

Lyon lies at the confluence of two rivers; la Saône and le Rhône. Why the former is female and the latter male is one of the mysteries of the French language. Anyway, on Sunday we went for a ramble to the covered market and then down to where these two rivers join in a formerly industrial area. It has been developed into housing, offices, restaurants, bars and an eye-catching museum at the tip of the island where the rivers conjoin.

The crystallised fruit in the market is spectacular but it was too soon after brekker to tempt me.

If you notice Sunday morning runners in my pictures they are participants in the Lyon Marathon. The 21st century architecture is flamboyantly French.

Musée des Confluences

If you’d like to know what’s inside the Musée des Confluences don’t ask me, go here. Sunday lunch is a serious meal in France and Robert and I wanted to get our knees under the table.
