Questions But No Answers

Walking in the woods yesterday I found this semi-circular stone edifice. It is on an outcrop high above the river Aveyron. Could it have provided shelter for a look-out or a forester? It is about the same size as the WW II pillboxes you see in England.

Yesterday evening I drove west for two hours from Tarn to the Gers. My hostess in my new billet is most thoughtful as the bedside table attests.

There is a fridge downstairs stacked with chilled bottles of Bombay Sapphire to take to bed. You’ve probably guessed that they are filled with water. Last night six of us sat out on the terrace and tackled an old FT quiz that I had brought out from London. My intention had been to do it in the Tarn with a famous quiz participant who came to lunch on Saturday. However, lunch was too convivial for me to drag her away for quizzing.
