I took Bali along the towpath to Richmond yesterday morning while Robert kept an eye on Bertie. It was high tide so not much avian activity on the foreshore.
But we did see a grey heron and a pair of geese caring for their goslings.
We also met a cat that I thought was a Chartreux. Bali didn’t seem to mind my talking to its owner; it’s just the sort of behaviour that drives Robert nuts. Actually it was a British Shorthair but her sister has a Chartreux and I suggested she gave her Colette’s novella La Chatte. The council seem to have found some money to repair Hammersmith Bridge.
But the Riverside Studios, scheduled to open in September 2018, has not opened. The windows are blacked out with “Riverside Studios Returns” but when?
I took Bali to meet Bertie and they made friends until Bertie became over-excited. We had an interesting sunset at the weekend.
I sometimes order eggs mayonnaise in restaurants and now I’ve found a quick way to make this at home. The sauce is Hellmann’s “real” mayo mixed with chilli sauce and tinned anchovies make a topping that echoes the Bellew Arms.
Dear Christopher,
I can sense that you are beginning to feel tension between Bertie and yourself as to the subject matter of our daily nourishment for the senses. You have valiantly to date tried to be even handed but it is clear that Bertie has little or no interest in Kubrick or Colette, Soane or Pevsner, and we haven’t even tiptoed into the opera and proms season.
The answer must be to demerge by creating BertieBellew.com devoted entirely to doggy matters with endless pics of his progress day by day. Many of your fan club will love this whilst the rest can return to the Arcadia of the world BB (Before Bertie). Some of us will of course follow both.
