Having a Rest

I have decided to take a break from writing for a while. I need a rest.

  1. You have more than earned but will be missed. Think of Lees-Milne. He took a break from the diaries but came back. Hope that will be case here.

  2. Thank you for all the insights and amusement you have given me. I think you deserve a rest and I hope your daily commitment to your blog has not completely burnt you out. I am sure I am among many fans who will find an unwelcome gap in my day.

  3. Return soon, refreshed and rejuvenated. I shall miss you, in fact my in-mail will not be worth looking at without you.
    Enjoy “down time” with Bertie.

  4. My immediate reaction to your news was a desire to stamp my foot in rage and put together a response about you responsibility to your public and then trying to use some emotional blackmail along the lines of needing your wise and comforting words more than ever in these times of political upheaval. I then read the responses of Sophie and Robert who thought more about you than themselves and realised to my shame that they are right. Enjoy your sabbatical!

  5. I have loved all your daily blogs as well as hearing about Bertie. Thank you for brightening my day. You will be missed very much. Enjoy a well earned rest and much love to you, Robert & Bertie. Look forward to your return. X

  6. Christopher,

They say you don’t know what you have missed until it is gone. That has certainly been the case this week as I searched in vain for the latest news from ‘Blog Bellew’.

You have provided the most valuable public service, executed with diligence and good humour, even when commentators indulge in a vituperative outburst.

For your rest take inspiration from Bertie (though as he appears to have coveted the sofa I presume you are in the dog house) and enjoy your period of respite, it is thoroughly well deserved, and comes with my very best wishes.

I have reserved a special libation to celebrate your return, which I have no doubt will be in the most spectacular fashion, after all it is better to come on with a bang than go out with a whimper!

  7. Going to miss the hints on interesting bits of London to try out. Also marveling on the Bellew family history which is somewhat different to my own collection of gilders, bricklayers and the odd criminal transported to Australia.
    Enjoy your rest Christopher.
