The Mating Season

Azina has spotted the new camera in her nesting box, supplied by Raptor Aid. She looks like Bertie (back on his vittles) asking to be taken for a walk.

She and Tom have been getting along fine in spite of the age disparity, doing lots of courtship displays. They look like lads and lassies at Highland Balls, not really touching but sizing each other up. Of course peregrines usually mate for life unlike some of us. Yesterday morning they mated. Sensibly they didn’t do it in the nesting box; a peregrine porn film. They will mate a lot to ensure fertilisation and towards the end of March she will lay their eggs.

Call me by your name. I met a neighbour on the street and confessed I could only remember dogs’ names. Sensibly she said next time our paths cross she will say “Patsy” and I’ll say “Christopher”. She was wearing a stunning tweed coat that suited her but not even the most audacious Silver Ring bookie could have carried it off.

Pour la continuation (from yesterday’s post), an expression I like hearing in French restaurants, my grandmother’s Morris 1000 was Battleship Grey. The Teslas at the north west corner of Margravine Gardens are the same colour. Tesla calls it Midnight Silver Metallic; it matches their owners’ hair. Sorry guys!
