Join a Craze

I prefer to call it a craze rather than mass hysteria. My first craze was when I was at prep school.

The South Sea Bubble and tulips were crazes in which investors lost their little all. Today’s crazes are crypto currencies and tech stocks. The latter have taken a beating. Stock market darling and FTSE 100 member, Scottish Mortgage, is down nearly 30%. Other tech stocks I own have fallen to a lesser extent: Monks and Herald investment trusts. Fortunately and luckily I bought at much lower levels and can shrug off these reverses but many traders buy on margin and get squeezed when their bets go wrong. It’s a good rule never to buy on margin unless you live in Essex and feel lucky.

So, you want to join in a craze but don’t want to lose your shirt; me too. So, I have started playing Wordle.

It’s quick, fun and addictive, so I suppose I will get bored of it soon.

  1. Talking about bubbles and crazes, have you bought (or sold) your first NFT? Perhaps offer a Bertie related NFT to that part of your readership who share your canine devotion.

  2. Wordle must be taking over the world. Just last night my son put me on to it. Two out of two games for me so far.
